The painted Tomb of Tyre hosted since 1939 in The National Museum of Beirut is one of the most spectacular monuments found in Lebanon. Thanks to the help of the Directorate General for Development Cooperation of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the restoration of the Roman frescoes and the new museographic concept of the vestibule and the funerary chamber were implemented in 2010.
I was asked to design a book that illustrates the art and the history of the Tomb of Tyre and the delicate tasks of conserving, restoring and creating the museographic display for this cultural masterpiece.
The graphic concept behind the cover book and the opening pages of each chapter is to create a sort of visual insight on the frescoes, evoking the experience of the descent into the tomb.
